Jack Skellington Pizza circa 2012

This Friday I hope to whip up a few Halloween-themed pizzas for some friends and family, which reminded me of my favorite pizza creation. So, for my first Cardigans & Cravats Throw Back Thursday (#tbt), I give you the time I made a Jack Skellington Pizza (October 20, 2012). You can find the complete directions over at Instructables (where the pizza was one of the finalists for the 2012 Halloween Contest, Food category). I used homemade pizza dough (my go-to recipe is is from King Arthur. I use the SAF Red Instant Yeast option because it requires no activation in warm water, black olives, and shredded mozzarella cheese to create the Pumpkin King (had pizza sauce on hand to dip the pieces in for those who did not like a white pizza). The below photos illustrate how i molded the face on a normal pizza base and added olives for the eyes and mouth. Then I carefully covered the pizza with cheese while avoided the olive parts as much as possible. Then I baked the pizza according to the King Arthur pizza instructions. Hope this inspires you to make your own or another unique creation with pizza dough.
