(September 9, 1941 – December 10, 1967)
Forty-seven years ago today we lost Otis Redding to a plane crash. He was on his way to perform at the Factory here in Madison, WI. Unfortunately, due to poor weather conditions, the plane crashed in Lake Monona (four miles from the airport, Truax Field). I usually adore this lake. I take walks across it at winter and have literally sat on a dock "wastin' time." It is hard to believe that Otis Redding was only 26 when he passed, because in his short career he gifted us with a plethora of amazing songs. Instead of feeling blue today, I want to honor his memory with my favorite Otis Redding songs. Yes, (Sitting On) The Dock Of The Bay is amazing and his versions of Stand By Me and My Girl are breathtaking, but these are simply my favorites.
1. Try a Little Tenderness
2. White Christmas
