Alternatives to Auld Lang Syne

First off, I adore a good rendition of Auld Lang Syne as we welcome in the new year with all its hope of change, new adventures, love, and the absolutely unknown. Yet - the inevitable happens. You know what I am talking about. Most people only remember the opening line "Should auld acquaintance be forgot" (and thanks to the minimal English translation people will sing old instead of auld - which makes the title to this song very confusing, right?). Then there might be some humming until you get to "and auld lang syne."

We could debate why this is, but maybe for time's sake we can blame the champagne and other libations and try to avoid another sad mishap this year. What am I suggesting? For some circles it might just be time to pick a new song to usher in the new year. I bet you are now questioning how many songs about the New Year, New Year's Eve, etc actually exist.

Surprisingly the answer is more than you think. I went through a number to bring you my curated list of ten songs that might just fit your New Year's Eve crowd best. I hope you enjoy and, remember, if you do plan on bringing in the New Year with Auld Lang Syne - please have the lyrics ready. Never trust the guy who can barely stand up to remember the lines "We two have run about the slopes, and picked the daisies fine; But we’ve wandered many a weary foot, since auld lang syne." Trust me, regardless of what they say, all you will hear is "mm mm mm mm mm mm".
