Matt Smith to join the Austen-verse

When I heard (aka skimmed headlines) yesterday Matt Smith was joining the cast of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, I assumed he would be Mr. Darcy. Especially since his real-life girlfriend Lily James is set to play Elizabeth Bennet. However, I was utterly wrong. According to AV Club Smith has signed on for the role of..... Mr. Collins. This actually pleases me and I think he will do a great job in this part. Previously, I have not held my breath for the film adapation of Seth Grahame-Smith's 2009 best seller by the same name. I actually read P & P & Z when it first came out and enjoyed it. It is the type of book you take on vacation or can read in a day. I even dressed as Elizabeth Bennet zombie killer to my guy's Shaun, of Shaun of the Dead for Halloween 2009 (sadly no good photos to share). It has been planned since its publication that a movie would be made and now it finally looks like it will happen after a few false starts and recastings. In addition to James and Smith the cast via IMDB so far is Sam Riley as Darcy, Douglas Booth as Bingley, Jack Huston as Wickham, and Emma Greenwell as Caroline Bingley.

I cannot judge how the movie will turn out. I fear it could end up like another Seth Grahame-Smith book-to-movie adaptation that will not be named. Instead, I choose to pose the question, what kind of Mr. Collins will Smith turn out to resemble? There are more than I list to choose from, but these are the first ones that came to mind.

My guess, Smith might even resemble another clergyman from a different book:  Mr Gibson in He Knew He Was Right (and played by another "Doctor" - David Tennant)
