Tara Starlet

For those who like a little more glamour in their lives, Tara Starlet is an ethical company you should definitely check out. Their retro, femme fatale-esque style is utterly eye-catching. The company was founded in 2005 by Joanne and Tara Scott, a mother-daughter team whose background in costume design translates beautifully in stylish wiggle dresses and 1950s feminine daywear.  Unfortunately, Joanne passed away in 2011, but still remains an inspiration to her daughter's designs.

The company hails from London's East-End and sources and manufactures all their garments in London. Tara Starlet, though previously available via TopShop, is now strictly available online and through some stockists worldwide.

Tara Starlet pieces are truly stunning. I have curated a selection of dresses below that highlight their day and evening wear. They utilize great colors and prints with timeless shapes and styles. The result is stylish, but also one you can accessorize to fit your own style. These pieces can also be worn throughout seasons and for various occasions. Their day dresses can easily be styled up for a night out or down to pop out for a quick errand. In addition to dresses, Tara Starlet has a line of tops, bottoms, undergarments, outerwear, and accessories available. If you cannot find that exact vintage item in your size, then Tara Starlet is definitely the way to go. Timeless, classic, and above all, ethical.

For Dressember 2015, I am dedicating a collection of posts to ethical clothing companies that make dresses. This post is part of this series. If you are interested in my Dressember Campaign, click here
