As a particular holiday is on the horizon, this week on the site I have decided to dedicate a number of posts to greeting cards. As you know, real mail is important to me. I love exchanging letters, postcards and mail art with friends. Though Mother's Day and Christmas are the leaders in popular card holidays, Valentine's Day holds steady at third (occasionally edging to number two depending on the year). This is not exactly a Valentine's Day post, but a way to elevate amazing illustrators and their work, which is available in card format. I hope you enjoy and will check back throughout the week.
Though Louis Roskosch sells work on various platforms online: Society6, TeePublic, and NeatoShop, it was Ohh Deer that has one product particular in stock. The item is a postcard with a black cat and the text "Impress Me Human." It made me laugh and I tracked down more items by Louis Roskosch. This design is included in my curated collection below.
Louis Roskosch has a defined style, utilizing a similar color palette through most of his work. He does not always feel the need to incorporate text, as seen in examples below. There is a quirky side, a snarky side, but always in a style that is recognizable as his own. His work is also worth taking a look the next time you need to purchase a card (or a print, a tee, a pillow, or even a mug). Take a look at my favorites below, ones I felt were perfect alternatives to card with hearts, cupids, and glossy red roses.
