As a particular holiday is on the horizon, this week on the site I have decided to dedicate a number of posts to greeting cards. As you know, real mail is important to me. I love exchanging letters, postcards and mail art with friends. Though Mother's Day and Christmas are the leaders in popular card holidays, Valentine's Day holds steady at third (occasionally edging to number two depending on the year). This is not exactly a Valentine's Day post, but a way to elevate amazing illustrators and their work, which is available in card format. I hope you enjoy and will check back throughout the week.
Lim Heng Swee, also know from his brand I Love Doodle, is an illustrator and designer based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. One of his goals, seen through his mantra, "Doodling A Smile," is to make people smile more. That is exactly what you will be giving if you gift someone one of Lim Heng Swee's cards.
You may have seen Lim Heng Swee's work on IdN (International design Network), Reader's Digest, M le weekend magazine of Le Monde, SwissMiss, Nike, Gap, or Dell, etc. You can purchase his work on his site, as well as on Etsy, Threadless (where he was named Designer of the Year by in both 2009 and 2011), Society6, and Ohh Deer (to name a few).
His illustration style is colorful, charming with a bit of humor thrown in). They truly are smiles packaged in envelopes. I have curated a collection of my favorites below. Whether you need to say sorry, share a hug, or express love, Lim Heng Swee's style might just be for you.
