This is the second installment of #emilyreadsthendraws and includes numbers 31 to 60. Like the first installment, this is a collection of drawings I made after finishing novels, graphic novels, audiobooks, and non-fiction books. Sometimes I draw my version of the covers. Other times I pull from part of the story - like the Lafayette glove used in Sarah Vowell's Lafayette in the Somewhat United States. Then on occasion I dig a little deeper and draw something personal like my younger art major self for Jamie Coe's Art Schooled or a coffee and books session with my husband for Philippa Rice's Soppy: A Love Story.
I'm over 60 drawings in at this point and what started as a simple hashtag and helped me to reconnect with my love of drawing and really push towards finding my own style. I hope this project may inspire you to either draw or find your own creative path.
If you would like to follow along each week with my new drawings, please check out my my Instagram account. In addition to #emilyreadsthendraws, you will find other drawings and creations that are all about of my year of "Make" (my world and goal of 2016).
